I always wonder about statements like that...how can you have a personal relationship with some one (or thing) that never talks back? How do you "let Jesus into your heart"? Basically, they're guys in a book. It's like having a relationship with Tom Sawyer, Ichabod Crane, or Scrooge.

Did you have "a personal relationship to Jehovah"?
by Awakened07 inremember how it was always stressed how important it was to "have a personal relationship to jehovah"?
that those who got disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves because of what members of the org.
had said or done, or failed doctrine etc., wouldn't have done so "if they only had had a close, personal relationship to jehovah"?

Purps, Reading your story totally reminded me of Mr. Witness's story (and brought me to the verge of tears). I WISH his mother had loved him more than her religion and taken care of him as you have taken care of your daughter. My heart goes out to you both and I wish you both the best.

Mr. Flippers Son's Witness Mother Tells Him- "We Have to Store Up Food!"

Mr. Witness went through a "preparedness" phase last year (about this time, if I remember correctly). We had to stock the basement with canned goods, dried food, and a box of "stuff" to use. He proudly explained the elder call list to me and told me that if there was a disaster that the elders would come looking for us to make sure we were OK. He told me that the elders would also look after my non-JW mom & dad if we wanted to put them on the list.
He even went so far as to call the village police and fire stations to see what the evacuation plans for our town are. I believe most of it stemmed from a pamphlet he received at a Thursday night meeting. It hasn't been reinforced lately, so his furor has died down...

The Governing NARCISSUS: the psychology of the FDS
by Terry innarcissism is a term of psychology/psychiatry characterized this way.. has a grandiose sense of self-importance .
is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love .
believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by other special people .

I agree with Terry. Mr. Witness is VERY narcissistic...he's "the perfect" dub.

Are JW's really hated?
by lfcviking injesus words: .
"the world will hate you just like it has hated me".
the jw's think this passage of scripture spoken by jesus applies to them in this present day.

Great topic. This comes up periodically with hubby. When he's feeling really "persecuted" by me, he states "I knew it, you hate the JW's". No, I don't hate each and every JW...I mostly feel sorry for them. What I hate is the WTBTS that has brainwashed so many people into throwing their lives away for such foolishness. Too bad most dubs can't see the grey for the black & white.

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU HEARD IT ALL!!! THIS IS SICK!!!
by Lady Liberty inmy mother called me last night and shared with me something my dad just discovered in doing some research on the internet.
it is out of the book published by the wathchtower in 1966, entitled, "life everlasting in freedom of the sons of god".. my parents have the book, and listen to what was written about adam and bestiality.... page 45, para.
before god created anything new, a woman, god left the man free to determine whether there was a suitable companion for him among all the lower animals.

I'm not nor never have been a JW, but I've attended one meeting and one funeral talk with my husband. We have two daughters, one who is 11 (mine from a prior relationship) and one who is 2. The 11-year-old was just bored to death and we laughed privately together that we couldn't keep up with all the bible flipping and we didn't know for sure what order the books were in...
The funny story is that during the funeral talk, I gave my bible to my 2-year-old to keep her occupied and at the end when we stood up to sing, I took it away. Well, she loudly protested by saying "READ the BIBLE!". Her father beamed and a few dubs around us turned and smiled, like, "what a great child, she's 2 and wants to read the bible". I laughed because since her dad reads the bible so much she sometimes calls any book "bible", so, she could have been holding a Stephen King novel and shouted the same thing! We had a good laugh about it.
